Costa Rica

Charlie and I had just about reached our limit with Bocas, the place is really nice, but theĀ  remoteness of our island meant that the hostels showers were incredibly unreliable, we had one shower in the four days we were there.

Add to that surfing and swimming every day and the countless layers of suncream, anti insect stuff and the tropical downpour which we lugged our bags through on the last morning and you get two very tired and dirty people on a 6 hour bus journey to San Jose.

The scenery is amazing, it’s quite mountainous with dense forests lining the cloud-topped peaks, the roads wind around and tunnel through the mountains after going along the Caribbean coast for a while before hand.

There was a stretch of beach which looked OK for surf, before we turned in land and headed away from the Caribbean sea for good, it’sunlikely we’ll go back to the East coast of C America on this trip at least.

San Jose is cooler and looks nice so far, we only have two nights here before moving on to Mal Pais on the mid-Pacific coast, there’s some decent waves around there and the hostel looks nice, so we’re spending 5 nights there before heading North to get a night or two in N Costa Rica (Witchs Rock area, although probably wont getout to the iconic beach - the seasons not the best for it and it’s a mission to get to apparently).

We are catching up on sleep and general stuff here, I’ve uploaded a few pictures of the previous few days to Flickr, I’ll link to a couple here. Hopefully I’ll be able to get some decent shots of the surf, just hope the swell arrives before we leave for Nicaragua.
