Lima

Charlie and I are now in the heat of Lima, after a 22 hour bus journey we arrived to find that the address we had for the hostel didn’t exist, after 30 minutes of asking around local official looking figures we managed to drag up the address on the laptop.

Charlie had forgotten to dot the “i” when writing it down, so we were looking for Los Linos street, when we were actually staying on Los Lirios, so we provided the correct address and a map, the taxi driver still didn’t know where the hell he was going and it took three more stops to ask directions before anyone knew where to head.

It didn’t help that we are staying on the smallest road in Lima, about three houses on each side, but you appreciate the London cabbies (and sat-nav) more when you drive around a baking hot sprawling city for 40 minutes looking for a simple address.

Now we are settled in to the hostel, all seems fine in the area, a nice big supermarket makes a change from tiny shops which all sell the same 5 items like in Cusco.

We should be able to have a look around the city today and maybe tomorrow before getting our flight tomorrow evening to Panama City.

The heat is already making things difficult as we’re used to the relatively colder mountain areas, but we’ll have to cope with worse in Central America.

Next update will probably be from Central America!
