La Serena to Iquique = 18 hours on a bus

After 2 days in Santiago and 2 in La Serena Charlie and I have decided to scrap the idea of breaking up our trip into relatively short distances and do one long coach trip up to Iquique in Northern Chile.

We’ll be on the bus for about 18 hours, arriving at about 09:40 on the 24th, we’ve booked a few nights in a hostel which was recommended before we left, the surf looks like it should be fun and the weather should be nice too.

So hopefully the marathon journey will be worth it, and pretty soon I’ll be surfing some decent slabby waves.  I’m hoping I wont be too unfit to paddle into anything, on the coach drive to La Serena the exposed beaches looked about double overhead, huge close-outs or sketchy rocky surges everywhere, Iquique looks like it has plenty of set-ups in a concentrated area so I might try and rent a bike or something and see as many as possible.
