Surfing in Chile
We are still in the hostel in Iquique, getting up early when we can be bothered for the surf. haven’t filmed in the water yet but might do soon I think.
The swell is climbing until Tuesday, which should be pretty big, then dropping next week for when we get to Arica, which might be a blessing if it gets as big as it looks like it will.

Finally settled in Iquique
The bus journey was pretty crappy, got a couple of hours sleep max, the morning was quite interesting driving along the coast and seeing all the potential set-ups breaking in the small swell.
I was starting to think that Iquique might not be big enough for a proper session when we got there, but I was pleasantly suprised.
We arrived 30 minutes early at 09:10 and the taxi cost 2,000 Chile Pesos,...

La Serena to Iquique = 18 hours on a bus
After 2 days in Santiago and 2 in La Serena Charlie and I have decided to scrap the idea of breaking up our trip into relatively short distances and do one long coach trip up to Iquique in Northern Chile.
We’ll be on the bus for about 18 hours, arriving at about 09:40 on the 24th, we’ve booked a few nights in a hostel which was recommended before we left, the surf looks like it should...

Waiting for Flights
We are going to be spending a lot of time in the next 24 hours waiting for flights or flying.
Our bags are checked and we set off in about an hour from Antigua VC Bird airport to San Juan in Peurto Rico - a 3 hour wait there, then on to New York JFK, then on to Lima in Peru - then Santiago Chile where we have our hostel booked.
Charlies already got the i-pod out.
I’m stealing wi-fi, after...

Looking out a dirty old window...
They’re playing the Presidents of the United States cover of Buggles’ Video Killed the Radio Star - the one which is on RSK, I can hear it clearly, but the rest of the music coming from the restuarant downstairs has been dump, so I’m not going to leave Charlie asleep on her own to investigate.
The next song just started - Chilli Peppers… rubbish.
Anyway, boredom and a...
Found some accomodation
We got in where we wanted after some hassle with local pay-phones, so now we have a nice cool place to stay - decent internet access and power - so I’ll try and do a bulk upload to flickr so I can wipe my memory cards before the South American Leg.
In the meantime I’ve put up some pic’s from tonight which you can see on flickr soon.
I can’t seem to get the proper organiz...

Antigua
We had a quick drive out to Half Moon bay on the East Coast of the island today, there’s a bit of a shore-break`1 - nothing special, but i think I’ll try and work the angles on it tomorrow if we can get a bus there.
Charlie and I are trying to find accomodation on Antigua to suit our budget, but it’s not really happening, the alternative is to stay on the boat for the last 4...

Dominica, The Saints & Antigua
This is our final destination in the Caribbean, we’ve seen a lot over the last couple of weeks, but haven’t had decent internet access.
Dominica was a highlight, as was the first surf I’ve had all trip - on a small french caribbean island, South of Gaudeloupe, part of ”Les Saintes”, the surf was rubbish, but the beach had a runway for light aircraft directly behind...

About to Leave St Lucia
We are about to set off for a sail North to Martinique.
It’s about 25 miles away, weather looks pretty good, should take 6 hours approx.
We all cleaned the hull of the boat yesterday after dropping anchor in Rodney Bay, not many fish about, but got some good footage of snorkelling in between the Pitons on Sunday.
More updates if/when we get wifi on Martinique.

Day Four - St Lucia
Got our first chance to get online since arriving in St Lucia - we’ve already had a look around some of the sites, Pidgeon island is a nice tourist spot, you have to walk through - or dinghy past - an All inclusive Sandals resort to get there.
Charlie and I took a bunch of photo’s already so when I get a chance I’ll put some of them up. Dad’s just gone off with my camera...
